Team Ghana
Para
Ghana’s para athletics program has made significant strides in recent years, with athletes competing in both track and field events at the global level, including the Paralympic Games. Despite challenges in funding and resources, Ghana’s para athletes have continued to inspire with their dedication.
Track Events include:
- 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, and marathon (for various classifications).
- The mixed 4x100m relay has also seen participation in international competitions.
Field Events include:
- Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw, and Club Throw.
One of Ghana’s key athletes in field events is Zinabu Issah, who has represented the country in shot put and discus throw. While results haven’t yet reached podium levels, the country continues to develop its para athletics team through training camps and local competitions.
As Ghana continues to push forward, the focus remains on improving infrastructure, offering more inclusive opportunities for athletes, and boosting participation in regional and international events. With growing support from the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) and collaborations with sponsors, there is optimism for future medal prospects and global recognition.
Upcoming Focus: The goal is to expand the talent pool in both track and field events, further positioning Ghana as a competitor in Africa and beyond.
